Xbox Power Cables

The UK national press is reporting that Microsoft is replacing the power cords on 14 million Xbox games consoles after the discovery that a “rare electrical component failure” could pose a fire risk.

The alert relates to consoles manufactured in Europe before 13 January 2004 and those made elsewhere before 23 October 2003.

To obtain the replacement cords owners should visit www.xbox.com and click on the “power cord replacement for Xbox” link which appears shortly.

Until the replacements are received, owners are advised to turn their machine off when not in use.
